History
Our Stud began in 1998 with the
purchase of two does from the University of Queensland, Gatton Campus. This was
followed by the purchase of some old Terraweena frozen embryos, which were
implanted in our first ET program in April 1998.
We quickly realised that if we
wanted to be competitive we would need to upgrade on the quality of animals we
had produced from our first ET program. This led us to the purchase of frozen
embryos from the South African Studs of Nico Botha and Braam Maritz.
The kids from these imported
embryos were born in September 1999 and we were very fortunate to get a
substantial number of very high quality animals that enabled us to create a very
strong base for our Stud. From this drop of kids we ended up with well known
Sires like Apollo, Golden Patch, Nelson, Mr Muscle, Hercules, Tipan and Snoopy.
With the exception of Apollo,
all of these original Sires have move on to other Studs where they are still
winning in the Show ring and are producing Champions themselves for other
breeders.
“Apollo” stood out as a Sire,
producing an excellent line of foundation Does. Many of these Does were joined
to War Lord and produced much of the high quality stock we have today. Apollo is
still used lightly in our line breeding programs where he is joined to his grand
daughters and great grand daughters with fantastic results. Apollo also produced
some outstanding bucks like Magnum, Brumby, Banjo and AP37 (red).
Apollo is the full brother to
the 2000 Sydney Royal Grand Champion Buck, Etiwanda Pilgrim and Junior Champion
Doe, Stony Ridge Ginger.
If you are lucky an “Imported”
Sire like Apollo comes along once in a life time. We have been more than lucky,
as two years later we purchased more “Imported” frozen embryos from Nico Botha
and produced the best Buck Australia has ever seen, “War Lord”.
“War Lord” was Supreme Champion
Exhibit at the “2004 Australian National Championship Show”, proving beyond
doubt he is the best in the Country. Not only is this Buck a Champion himself,
he is a true Sire producing many Champions with his daughters also producing
Elite Champions like “Apachie”, the Junior Champion Buck of the 2004 Australian
National Championship Show.
With only six years experience
in this industry, we have achieved a great deal and believe we can improve much
more in the coming years. Our goal is to remain up there with the best in our
Country.
“Tindarra Partnership”
In January 2003 we formed an ET
breeding partnership with Jeoff & Dawn Campbell of “Tindarra Boer Goats”,
Mathoura, New South Wales. This partnership has proven to be a fantastic success
for both of our Studs.
Jeoff & Dawn by their own
admission, were struggling to produce any Elite Stud animals from the bloodlines
they had at the time and were looking to rapidly improve the quality of their
Stud. We were looking for a property in the “Blue Tongue Free Zone” on which we
could produce high quality Stud animals for our export market.
An ET breeding partnership
using Farmworld’s latest imported South African genetics seemed to be the answer
to both of our situations. The proof of this was seen at the 2004 Australian
National Championship Show, where animals bred at “Tindarra” performed very
well. Farmworld Apachie & Tindarra Champ were two such animals, along with a
string of other successful Junior exhibits.
Credit for the fantastic
condition the Farmworld & Tindarra animals were in at the 2004 National Show
must go entirely to Jeoff & Dawn, who prepared both Show Teams to perfection.
